Faith is the victory

Psalm 68:19-20:  “Praise the Lord; praise God our savior! For each day he carries us in his arms.  Our God is a God who saves! The Sovereign Lord rescues us from death.”

As Christians, we believe that God daily bears our burdens, that He has saved us from our sins, and that He delivers us from all tragedies.  Why should we worry or be afraid when we possess such a faith?

When we behold the might of our God and are gripped by the truth that He is the Great Warrior who goes before His people, our faith becomes a trusting faith that cannot be intimidated by the foes and disasters that may confront us and attempt to overthrow us in this world.

In Romans 8, Paul summed up this undaunted faith that we have by saying that our faith stands against the whole range of difficulties that may hammer against us, singing the song of victory over them and in the midst of them.

Our faith does not shrink back in the face of natural or human-made disasters – Romans 8:35: “Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death?”

God, through His Son, Jesus Christ, has promised to defend us against life’s atrocities.

Our faith defies the severest persecution – Romans 8:36:  “As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”

Jesus will stand beside us and strengthen us and deliver us even when the world turns on us and beats us up and slaughters us.  No matter what, our faith enables us to rise above this present age and live in the victory that Christ has given us.

1 Corinthians 15:57 – “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Our faith does not fear anything in the past, present, or future – in this world or in the world above us or the one below us – Romans 8:38-39:  “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

No angel in heaven, no demon in hell, no human on earth will ever be able to stop Christ from loving us.

Here is faith confronting anything, everything, and the worst things – and still singing.  Such faith cannot be bullied, intimidated, or overcome (1 John 5:4 – “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith”).
